The First Tee, started as a way to bring an affordable junior golf program to communities that did not have them, especially in economically disadvantaged areas. What The First Tee soon discovered was that blending the rules of the game with life and leadership skills, kids and teens didn’t just learn how to putt – they were learning important values.
Since its inception in 1997, The First Tee has grown to reach more than 4 million young people annually through approximately 171 chapters nationwide.
The First Tee of Greater Miami Valley is the local chapter that began from an affiliation with the Bob Kramer Youth Golf Academy (Middletown, Ohio) in 2004. Our mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. We began programming in 2005 by serving 45 area youth in Middletown. Since that time, we have grown to serve families in Butler, Montgomery and Warren Counties and will IMPACT more than 12,500 young people in 2016 through nine Life Skills Experience Program locations, The First Tee National School Program, The First Tee DRIVE (an after-school program), and outreach events.
